About The Position

The Knockout Operator is responsible for setting up and cleaning dies to reduce press downtime. This role involves following a daily knockout schedule, reviewing the forge schedule to ensure tooling availability, and scheduling tooling on the die schedule list. The operator will receive work orders from Tool & Die, deliver dies to the Tool & Die area, and notify Tool & Die of repair types. Additionally, the position requires completing paperwork such as job set up sheets, identifying equipment issues and notifying supervisors or maintenance, and reporting quality issues to Quality control. The role also includes maintaining daily timekeeping, daily inserts, and die inventory in the Knockout computer system, and reporting unusual or unsafe conditions to the supervisor. Active participation in promoting a safe and healthy work environment by following policies and procedures for accident reduction and elimination, and providing feedback for safer work behaviors and conditions is expected.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow instructions
  • Ability to work under pressure and adhere to schedules
  • Ability to read a tape measure
  • Ability to operate hand tools such as spray gun and forge tongs
  • Ability to work safely and keep area clean
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with all levels of the organization
  • Good verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills
  • Able to communicate clearly, concisely and achieve intended objectives
  • Ability to work assigned shift and remain awake and alert during assigned shift is required
  • Reporting to work for assigned shift, maintaining a physical presence and performing assigned work for the duration of assigned shift is required
  • Ability to work in a variety of environments which may include exposure to extreme heat, humidity, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, loud noise, and all weather conditions
  • Regularly required to stand for an 8 hour shift
  • Position requires frequent twisting, turning, reaching, bending, pulling and pushing
  • Position occasionally requires walking, climbing, stooping, and crouching
  • Must be able to handle up to 80 lbs on a regular basis throughout the 8 hour shift
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision
  • Working conditions include exposure to extreme temperatures (heat) and humid conditions, dirt, and noise

Responsibilities

  • Set up and clean dies

  • Actively participate in efforts to establish and promote a safe and healthy work environment
