About The Position

Kitchen Stewards help keep the kitchen clean, stocked, and operating effectively. The role includes washing dishes, putting away deliveries, and assisting with food preparation as needed. It is suited to someone dependable who takes cleanliness seriously and follows through on assigned duties.

The work environment may be loud and busy, with kitchen hazards including hot surfaces and liquids, sharp knives, and slippery floors. Exposure to extreme heat or cold and cleaning chemicals is possible. The position requires standing for extended periods, up to 8 or more hours, as well as walking, bending, stooping, and moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Requirements

• Food safety handler and sanitation certification, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Ability to stand for long periods, up to 8 or more hours, and to walk, bend, and stoop.
• Ability to lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Previous restaurant dishwashing experience.
• Working knowledge of operating a commercial dishwasher.
• High school or vocational coursework in kitchen basics, such as food safety.

Responsibilities

• Keep the kitchen and dining room clean and sanitary.
• Wash utensils, equipment, and dishes by machine or by hand.
• Put away clean dishware, glassware, flatware, pots, and pans.
• Stock supplies at serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, and salad bars.
• Sweep and wash floors.
• Sort and remove trash to designated pickup areas.
• Assist with food preparation as directed, including salad bar and cold dishes.
• Help unload and put away deliveries.
• Communicate regularly with management by phone, email, and text.
