About The Position

The Kitchen Lead is the primary point person in a school kitchen, preparing nutritious breakfast and lunch meals for students while overseeing the daily flow of food service operations. This hands-on leadership role is suited to someone who enjoys cooking, staying organized, and working in a fast-paced school kitchen. The Kitchen Lead serves meals to students, leads daily kitchen operations, completes food service documentation, operates the POS system, follows food safety and sanitation standards, and collaborates with the food service team. The role may also assist with menu planning and recipe development.

Requirements

• Previous commercial, restaurant, institutional, or school cooking experience is preferred.
• Leadership or supervisory experience in a kitchen is a plus.
• Experience using a Point of Sale (POS) system or willingness to learn.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to lift, stand, and perform the physical duties of a commercial kitchen.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook breakfast and lunch for students.
• Serve meals to students in a friendly and efficient manner.
• Lead daily kitchen operations and serve as the primary kitchen contact.
• Complete required production records and other food service documentation.
• Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system accurately.
• Follow food safety and sanitation standards.
• Assist with menu planning and recipe development.
• Work collaboratively with the food service team to provide high-quality meals.
