About The Position

The Kitchen Helper provides excellent customer service and creates a pleasant dining experience for residents and guests by taking meal orders, serving meals, washing dishes, and providing assistance. This is a part-time role scheduled for less than 22.5 hours per week, with compensation of $17.00–$18.00 per hour.

Requirements

High school diploma preferred; GED accepted.
Minimum of one year of experience in fine-dining hospitality and/or full-service senior living.
Ability to handle multiple priorities.
Competent organizational and time-management skills.
Good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Experience working with seniors.
Ability to perform the physical activities described, including standing, walking, sitting, reaching, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, talking, hearing, and smelling.
Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds; intermittent lifting and supporting of residents is required, using proper body mechanics.

Responsibilities

Take residents’ dining orders in a friendly and attentive manner.
Learn and remember residents’ names, special requests, and dietary restrictions.
Set up the dining room and ensure service items, including silverware, napkins, menus, and salt and pepper shakers, are available.
Clean, wash dishes, and sanitize the dining room, menus, kitchen, serving stations, and other areas as directed.
Follow safe food-handling practices.
Assist with preparing beverages, snacks, desserts, salads, and condiments for service.
Assist residents with special dining requests.
Ensure all residents are accounted for during each meal and document their attendance.
Assist with special events.
Attend and participate in scheduled in-service training.
Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as community policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
