About The Position

The Kitchen Helper maintains kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils in a clean and orderly condition and assists kitchen staff with daily tasks. The position supports the Milford Senior Center Meals on Wheels Program, including meal packaging and distribution, preparation of supplies for congregate clients, food-temperature monitoring, and support of serving lines.

This is a part-time position scheduled Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Paid holiday, sick, and vacation time are offered.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, one to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Contribute to a positive team spirit.
• Follow policies and procedures and management direction.
• Be consistently at work and on time.
• Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness and complete work in a timely manner.
• Observe safety and security procedures.
• Use equipment and materials properly.

Nice To Haves

• ServSafe Certification is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with packaging and distributing meals.
• Prepare and clean tea, coffee, and water urns and condiments for congregate clients.
• Maintain clean work areas; remove trash; and clean and sanitize pots, pans, and utensils as assigned.
• Follow sanitation and safety regulations in the Food Code.
• Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas.
• Monitor food temperatures using thermometers.
• Back up serving lines and ensure the line has an adequate amount of food.
• Transfer completed food packages to appropriate areas for transport or storage.
• Gather supplies and products needed for daily operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
