About The Position

The Kitchen Helper provides customer service and helps create a pleasant dining experience for residents and guests. Duties include taking meal orders, serving meals, dishwashing, assisting with food preparation, and supporting residents with dining needs. This is a part-time position with a stated pay range of $17–$18 per hour.

Requirements

High school diploma preferred; GED accepted.
At least one year of experience in fine-dining hospitality and/or full-service senior living.
Ability to handle multiple priorities.
Organizational and time-management skills.
Good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Experience working with seniors.
Ability to stand, walk, sit, use fine and gross motor skills, reach, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and smell.
Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds; intermittent lifting and supporting of residents is required, using proper body mechanics.

Responsibilities

Take residents’ dining orders in a friendly and attentive manner.
Learn and remember residents’ names, special requests, and dietary restrictions.
Set up the dining room and ensure service items, such as silverware, napkins, menus, and seasonings, are available.
Clean, wash dishes, and sanitize the dining room, menus, kitchen, serving stations, and other areas as directed.
Follow safe food-handling practices.
Help prepare beverages, snacks, desserts, salads, and condiments for service.
Assist residents with special dining requests.
Account for residents during each meal and document their attendance.
Assist with special events.
Attend scheduled in-service training.
Comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and community policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
