About The Position

This role equips our church to welcome and serve guests at both internal events and during outside rentals. By assisting the director of events and leading volunteer teams, anticipating and planning logistics, food service and staffing needs, this role can demonstrate the heart of hospitality at Christ Church. In supporting the Director of Food Services with administrative tasks such as ordering, billing, volunteer management and co-leading or leading during events, the role allows for the Director to focus on bigger picture, Organizational tasks as well as for collaborative planning and problem solving.

Requirements

High School diploma
Knowledge and certification in food safety
Must be able to stand and move about the building for many hours during events and limited hours weekly for kitchen clean up and inventory management.
Works in both office and kitchen setting
Needs own transportation to shop for and pick up food
Working knowledge of and ability to use kitchen equipment
Use of software systems like Concur, Microsoft Office, eSpace, Touchpoint & vendor ordering platforms
Need food handler's certification
Communicate, organize and delegate volunteer roles
Ability to collaborate with director and team regarding event logistics planning & execution
Strong work ethic; willingness to work hard and be personable with guests for many hours during events
Communicates with clarity and warmth across diverse audiences
Demonstrates integrity, humility, and alignment with Christ Church’s values

Nice To Haves

1-3 years | restaurant, catering or service industry with experience in large events.
Spiritual Development Support and model individual spiritual formation i.e. Worship, Grow and Serve. (Weekly worship, prayer, scripture reading, small group, volunteering/service, etc.).
Regularly attends worship and participates in ministry events at Christ Church or a Christ Church campus unless exempted by Christ Church leadership.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with Director of Food & Event Services to plan for F&E Services needs for all upcoming events ranging from Staff Break to annual Women's Conference to outside rentals with more than 700 guest; lead and execute F&E services during events.
Assist Director of Events and Special Projects with accounting, ordering, inventory management, and other administrative tasks
Demonstrate a heart for hospitality for guests and participants in all Christ Church and outside rental events.
Assist in planning and preparing menus and welcoming spaces for gatherings from 15-500
Participate in Christ Church staff life by attending all-staff meetings, church sponsored events, worship, training events and contributing to a culture of collaboration and encouragement.
Support church-wide initiatives and special events – assist with Christmas, Easter, Mother’s Day services, outreach and mission events by serving in flexible roles beyond primary ministry responsibilities.
Engage in ongoing personal and professional development through training, reading, coaching or mentoring, to grow as a leader and servant of Christ.
Collaborate across ministries to ensure alignment, share resources, and strengthen unity on our staff teams.
Demonstrate and model Christ Church’s core values in daily work, relationships and service to others.
Maintain a posture of flexibility by assisting with projects or assignments outside the immediate scope of the role when needed.

Program/Event Coordination and Logistical Support: This function encompasses the comprehensive planning and execution of all departmental and organizational events, ensuring they run smoothly and align with the broader institution's goals. Key activities involve managing event logistics, coordinating necessary resources, and ensuring seamless collaboration across different departments.
Information and Records Management: This vital function involves maintaining accurate, organized, and accessible data systems. The assistant is responsible for inputting, updating, and managing organizational records and files—such as volunteer information, attendance data, and contact lists—to ensure data integrity and compliance with institutional procedures.
Communication and Scheduling Management: This function focuses on facilitating effective information flow and organizational efficiency. It includes managing the official calendars to prevent scheduling conflicts, prioritizing appointments, handling all inbound and outbound correspondence, and acting as the primary liaison on behalf of their supervisor or director.
