About The Position

Avenues Recovery Center is hiring a Kitchen Assistant at its Indianapolis, Indiana facility. The role supports the head chef with food preparation, cooking, cleaning, and stocking, while helping keep the kitchen clean, functional, organized, and supplied. The Kitchen Assistant follows food-storage policies, labeling protocols, and food-safety regulations, and collaborates with the BHT team to support efficient meal preparation, service, and cleanup.

The Indianapolis location is a 144-bed detox and residential rehabilitation facility providing drug and alcohol addiction treatment. The facility has a multidisciplinary staff and a modern setting with bedrooms, lounges, and recreational areas.

Requirements

• Relevant experience or training necessary to serve as a professional chef.
• If in recovery, at least one year of sustained sobriety.
• Strong time-management and multitasking skills.
• Ability to collaborate and work efficiently.
• Comprehensive understanding of health and sanitation laws.

Responsibilities

• Support the head chef with food preparation, including cooking, cleaning, and stocking.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and functionality through regular washing and tidying.
• Keep the kitchen organized and replenish supplies when they are running low.
• Follow food-storage policies, labeling protocols, and food-safety regulations.
• Collaborate with the BHT team on meal preparation, service, and cleanup.
