About The Position

The Kitchen & Cafeteria Worker performs duties involved in operating the dishwashing machine, transporting dishes, preparing food items, serving patient meals, assisting cafeteria customers, and cleaning food preparation and service areas. The role supports food preparation and service, dishwashing, stocking, temperature checks, cash handling, catering, and general kitchen and cafeteria upkeep.

• Adept at problem-solving and decision-making.

• Up to one year of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation while maintaining a clean and safe kitchen and cafeteria area.
• Help prepare, serve, and transport patient trays, snacks, and supplements; retrieve trays and wash and store them as needed.
• Arrange and stock food items on the cafeteria counter and serve cafeteria customers.
• Check food temperatures on cafeteria steam tables, and check refrigerator and freezer temperatures and food temperatures before meals are served.
• Clean preparation areas and equipment.
• Operate the cash register, collect cafeteria payments, and record cash after each snack and meal period.
• Assist with preparation, service, and cleanup of catered meals.
• Assist with vending machine operations as needed.
• Clean dishes and other meal-serving utensils, including scraping, racking, and hand-washing dishes, trays, and silverware.
• Assist on the trayveyor line during patient tray service periods.
• Assist with storing staple goods or other supplies as needed.
• Dispose of garbage accumulated during the assigned shift and clean garbage cans and the surrounding area.
• Clean pots and pans as assigned.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
