About The Position

The Kindergarten-2nd Grade Basketball Referee officiates recreational youth basketball games, maintaining standards of play and enforcing sports policies. The referee ensures that game rules are observed by participants and spectators and contributes to a fun, safe environment for friendly competition. The role works directly with the public.

Requirements

• Must be at least 14 years of age.
• Must pass a background check.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
• Ability to effectively communicate with the general public.
• Ability to show impartiality during games and contests.
• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Ability to run as required by job duties.

Responsibilities

• Officiate recreational youth Kindergarten–2nd Grade basketball games.
• Maintain standards of play and enforce sports policies.
• Ensure participants and spectators observe game rules.
• Judge performances in sporting competitions.
• Signal participants or other officials to regulate play.
• Inspect sporting equipment and examine participants for compliance with regulations.
• Keep track of event times and manage game segments.
