Kiln Fireman (Night Shift)

About The Position

The Kiln Fireman is responsible for operating the burning department, including dryers, kilns, DLAs, car haulage systems, and propane systems. The role includes making adjustments, performing preventive maintenance and repairs, conducting quality checks, and completing shift and daily reports. The position works an 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. 3/4 schedule (2-2-3), including every other weekend.

Requirements

Must work in a safe manner and obey safety signs and warnings.
Must be able to learn the full operation of the burning department and DLA.
Must be able to learn the full operation of the automatic transfer cars.
Must be able to fill in for other department employees when needed.
Must learn basic computer skills and be able to complete daily reports.
Must perform daily brick quality tests.
Must be able to obtain a forklift license.
Must know how to use hand tools to adjust, repair, and perform preventive maintenance as needed.
Must be willing and able to help throughout the plant where needed.
Hardhat, safety glasses, and steel-toe shoes are required.

Responsibilities

Operate the burning department, including dryers, kilns, DLAs, car haulage systems, and propane systems.
Monitor kilns and make adjustments as needed.
Perform daily equipment checks and repair issues or report them to a supervisor.
Perform preventive maintenance and repairs using hand tools as needed.
Conduct daily brick quality tests.
Complete daily and shift reports.
Learn and operate the DLA and automatic transfer cars.
Fill in for other department employees when needed and help throughout the plant where needed.
Participate in department housekeeping and meet housekeeping standards.
Work safely and obey safety signs and warnings.
