KidZone Associate - Substitute
About The Position
The KidZone Associate supports Peoria Unified students in a before- and after-school care program for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Associates help create a safe, caring, positive environment that supports learning, growth, safety, and fun. They interact with students empathetically, respectfully, and consistently, and work with school staff, parents, and other team members to provide a nurturing and enriching experience. This is a substitute role offering schedule flexibility. The position is a 12-month appointment and is classified at salary classification 7, at $15.59.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Background in early childhood, education, or related fields.
- Hold current first aid and CPR certification, or be able to obtain certification within 30 days.
- Effective communication skills.
- Possess or obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Pass a background clearance check.
- Have a valid Arizona driver's license at the time of application and maintain it.
- May be required to work outside normal working hours.
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain a good rapport with students, employees, and the community.
- Prepare the site and activities before children arrive.
- Supervise children at all times.
- Administer first aid when necessary.
- Treat every child with respect.
- Maintain acceptable behavior standards and ensure behavior is consistent with district and program policy.
- Keep the manager informed of student activities.
- Share and participate in cleanup activities.
- Complete at least 18 verifiable hours of approved training annually, as required by Department of Health Services regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.
