About The Position

Midtown is seeking a KidTown/Child Care Associate to join its childcare team. Associates inspire young members through movement, community, and personal attention, encouraging active, social, and healthier lives. This is a full-time position requiring weekday morning availability and flexibility to work occasional weekends when needed. Compensation is $16–$17 per hour, depending on experience. Child CPR, First Aid, and AED certification are required; Midtown provides this training. The job description covers general requirements and may include other duties as needed to support department operations.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience working with children in an educationally supportive environment.
• Comfort working with children from 8 weeks to 12 years old.
• Take initiative and ownership of the position and lead youth members with confidence and care.
• Outstanding verbal communication skills with children and adults.
• Patience and an outgoing, friendly manner.
• High energy and ability to keep children moving through a variety of activities.
• Willingness to adapt to the changing needs of members and the space.
• Positive attitude and enjoyment of working with children.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Ability to move quickly from seated to standing to attend to a child's needs.
• Child CPR, First Aid, and AED certification; training is provided by Midtown.
• Weekday morning availability and flexibility to work occasional weekends when needed.

Responsibilities

• Foster an environment of movement-based fun in a safe and comfortable setting.
• Lead activities such as arts and crafts, story time, and games.
• Communicate positive and negative behaviors to parents at pick-up.
• Build relationships with families.
• Keep the space clean and free of germs and messes to support the well-being of staff and children.
• Work with leadership to continually improve KidTown and Varsity Club.
• Attend to children's needs.
