About The Position

Midtown is seeking a part-time KidTown/Child Care Associate to join its childcare team. Associates help create a safe, comfortable environment where children can enjoy movement-based activities, social interaction, and personal attention. The role includes working with children from 8 weeks to 12 years old and communicating with their parents or guardians at pick-up. The position offers $16–$17 per hour and requires occasional weekday afternoon and weekend morning availability. Child CPR, First Aid, and AED certification is required; Midtown provides this training. Additional duties may be assigned as needed to support department operations.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience working with children in an educationally supportive environment.
• Comfort working with children ages 8 weeks to 12 years old.
• Take initiative and ownership of the position and lead youth members with confidence and care.
• Outstanding verbal communication skills with children and adults.
• Patience and an outgoing, friendly manner.
• High energy and the ability to keep children moving through varied activities.
• Willingness to grow with the changing needs of members and the space.
• Positive attitude and enjoyment of working with children.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to move quickly from seated to standing to attend to a child's needs.
• Child CPR, First Aid, and AED certification; Midtown provides the training.

Responsibilities

• Foster a safe, comfortable environment for movement-based fun.
• Lead activities such as arts and crafts, story time, and games.
• Communicate positive and negative behaviors to parents at pick-up.
• Build relationships with families.
• Keep the space clean and free of germs and messes to support the well-being of staff and children.
• Work with leadership to continually improve KidTown and Varsity Club.
