About The Position

Midtown is seeking a KidTown/Child Care Associate to join its childcare team. This part-time role supports children from 8 weeks to 12 years old, creating a safe, comfortable setting that encourages movement, social connection, and personal attention. Associates lead activities, communicate with parents, maintain a clean space, build relationships with families, and work with leadership to improve KidTown and Varsity Club. The position requires occasional weekday afternoon availability and weekend morning availability. Compensation is $16–$17 per hour. Child CPR, First Aid, and AED certification is required; Midtown provides this training. Other duties may be assigned as needed to support department operations.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience working with children in an educationally supportive environment.
• Comfort working with children ages 8 weeks to 12 years old.
• Initiative and ownership in the position.
• Outstanding verbal communication skills with children and adults.
• Patience and an outgoing, friendly manner.
• High energy and ability to keep children moving through a variety of activities.
• Positive attitude and enjoyment of working with children.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to move quickly from seated to standing to attend to a child’s needs.
• Child CPR, First Aid, and AED certification; Midtown provides the training.
• Availability on occasional weekday afternoons and weekend mornings.

Responsibilities

• Foster a safe and comfortable environment for movement-based fun.
• Lead activities such as arts and crafts, story time, and games.
• Communicate positive and negative behaviors to parents at pick-up.
• Build relationships with families.
• Keep the space clean and free of germs and messes to support the well-being of staff and children.
• Work with leadership to continually improve KidTown and Varsity Club.
• Lead youth members with confidence and care.
• Adapt to changing member and space needs.
