Kids Dance Teacher
About The Position
The Kids Dance Teacher leads engaging after-school dance classes for students in grades K–5 at elementary schools across the Bay Area. The teacher creates a fun, supportive environment where children can learn, express themselves, and thrive. Classes serve groups of 8–16 students aged 5–10 and cover various forms of dance tailored to elementary school children. Work is two or more days per week, with classes lasting 1–1.5 hours and starting between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, for a maximum of 2–5 hours weekly. The role includes a training and shadowing session of up to two days, which is unpaid. The teacher must transport and set up necessary equipment and have reliable transportation throughout the East and South Bay and Peninsula. Candidates must be local to the US or possess a valid working visa; visa assistance is not provided.
Requirements
- Must be at least 19 years old.
- At least a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Enjoy working with children and have effective classroom management skills.
- Be flexible, reliable, punctual, and professional, with an enthusiastic approach.
- Have strong communication skills and a resilient, positive attitude.
- Have reliable transportation throughout the East and South Bay and Peninsula.
- Be local to the US or possess a valid working visa; visa assistance is not provided.
Nice To Haves
- Previous teaching or performing experience in dance is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Energize and manage classes of 8–16 students aged 5–10.
- Teach various forms of dance tailored to elementary school children.
- Attend up to two days of unpaid training and shadowing to become familiar with the program.
- Transport and set up necessary equipment for each class.
- Take attendance and manage student sign-in and sign-out procedures.
- Communicate with parents and school staff as needed.
- Provide constructive feedback on each student’s progress.
- Capture photos of children during sessions.
