About The Position

This position is responsible for recruiting, training, coordinating, and monitoring the work of employee and volunteer bell ringers, ensuring ample staff to meet location needs. The role involves preparing records and reports regarding the same. Key responsibilities include interviewing, recruiting, screening, and selecting bell ringing staff and volunteers to ensure all sites are covered effectively. The coordinator plans, schedules, and assigns work, instructs on proper methods, and checks work for accuracy and compliance with Salvation Army policies. They maintain contact with staff and volunteers, address concerns, and recognize workers. The role also involves preparing and maintaining records and databases for kettle income, preparing reports on the kettle program's status, and providing documentation of hours worked. Additionally, the coordinator plans and prepares special events, prepares recognition items, and maintains special event records. They meet with community leaders to discuss Salvation Army needs and drive Salvation Army vehicles to deliver and collect kettles and supplies. Assisting with counting, recording, and depositing kettle funds is also part of the role.

Requirements

  • High School or G.E.D.
  • One year experience working with kettle fund raising programs preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to meet attendance requirements.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.

Responsibilities

  • Interviews, recruits, screens and selection of bell ringing staff and volunteers ensuring all sites are covered effectively.
  • Plans, schedules, and assigns work of staff and volunteers; instructs in proper methods and procedures; checks and approves work in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy and completeness as well as compliance with Salvation Army policies and procedures.
  • Maintains contact with staff and volunteers throughout their service; answers questions, concerns or problems; recognizes workers through correspondence by mail, in person or by phone.
  • Prepares and maintains up-to-date records and databases for daily kettle income information; prepares reports regarding the status of the kettle program; provides staff and volunteers with documentation of the hours worked.
  • Plans, coordinates, and prepares special events; prepares plaques and certificates of recognition; prepares and maintains special event records for future reference.
  • Meets with community leaders and organizations and discusses Salvation Army needs.
  • Drives Salvation Army vehicle(s) to deliver and collect kettles and supplies to kettle locations and workers.
  • Assists with counting, recording and depositing of kettle funds.
