About The Position

The Secretary for Main Office of Keough Memorial Academy is directly responsible to the Principal and under their direction is expected to perform a wide variety of clerical and general office work as required on a day-to-day basis, including but not limited to drafting correspondence, scheduling appointments, organizing, handling attendance, and maintaining paper and electronic files or providing information to callers.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as managing files and records, typing letters, spreadsheets, memorandums and other reports and other office procedures and terminology.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Emotional maturity, competence, and personal integrity.
  • Meeting strict deadlines.
  • Repeating the same physical activities or mental activities over and over.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for the majority of the day.
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, and willing to cooperate with other staff members in assisting with all phases of main office work.
  • Exercises good judgment, using accuracy and thoroughness, to determine validity of work done.
  • High School Graduate.
  • Thorough knowledge of office practices and procedures.
  • Must demonstrate neatness in appearance and work.
  • High degree of patience and tact in dealing with students, parents, teachers, administrators and the general public are necessary.
  • High degree of proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and in-house accounting software.

  • Organizing and maintaining office records for ready accessibility
  • Updating and maintaining all student information systems (i.e. registration, attendance, school choice, homeless data)
  • Maintaining and preserving all public records and supporting files of the school department, which will include student cumulative folders and a student database
  • Proofreading documents, records, or other files to ensure accuracy
  • Assuming other related assignments or work that may be assigned by the Principal
  • Adhering to the adopted policies of the Bellingham School Committee
