About The Position
We are seeking a compassionate and responsible Kennel Assistant to join our veterinary hospital team. The ideal candidate will provide daily care and supervision for hospitalized and boarding animals, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being. This role is critical to maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient kennel environment that supports both our patients and veterinary staff.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience working with animals in a kennel, shelter, or veterinary environment is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and organizational skills.
- Compassionate, patient, and team-oriented mindset.
- Physical ability to lift to 20 kg and spend time on your feet and cleaning.
Responsibilities
- Feed, water, and monitor the health and behaviour of hospitalized or boarding animals.
- Clean and sanitize kennels, cages, and common areas in accordance with hospital protocols.
- Walk animals as appropriate.
- Observe and report any changes in animal behaviour or health to veterinary staff promptly.
- Assist veterinary technicians and veterinarians with basic procedures and animal handling as needed.
- Follow all safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures.
