About The Position

Waverly Animal Hospital is seeking an overnight Animal Care Companion to help provide individualized care for boarding animals and support the animal hospital as needed. The role contributes to a positive, team-focused environment and to improving the dog-boarding experience. It includes maintaining clean and sanitary animal areas, exercising and interacting with animals, and assisting clients with pet drop-offs and pick-ups.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds without restriction.
• Comfort working around potentially reactive animals.
• Availability to work full time and openness to working Saturdays and/or Sundays.
• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Ability to walk, stoop, reach, kneel, and run as needed.
• Comfort cleaning and scrubbing kennels multiple times daily.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect kennels, cages, and common areas.
• Wash and sanitize food and water bowls.
• Launder animal bedding and towels.
• Walk, exercise, and play with animals to provide physical activity and mental stimulation.
• Greet and assist clients dropping off or picking up their pets.
• Provide pet owners with updates about their animals’ condition and behavior during their stay.
• Support the animal hospital’s veterinary support needs as required.
