This position is for a K-8 Teacher specializing in Special Education. The role involves promoting the mental, physical, emotional, and social growth of assigned students. The teacher will utilize available instructional materials and a variety of techniques to foster student achievement and development, demonstrating knowledge of appropriate developmental practices for young children. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate records, ensuring a safe and attractive classroom, developing and implementing classroom management techniques, and completing assignments in a timely fashion. The teacher will also be responsible for planning and preparing for classes, submitting lesson plans weekly, and reporting punctually to assigned duties. This role requires becoming knowledgeable about system methods, programs, and resources, using various diagnostic methods, and exhibiting self-control. Continuous evaluation of student progress and planning based on student needs are essential. The teacher will cooperate with school and central office personnel, encourage parent involvement, and demonstrate professional growth through inservice training and participation in faculty meetings. Adherence to Louisiana laws concerning student education, health, safety, and welfare is required, along with assisting in the development and implementation of quality education in Jefferson Parish Public Schools. The teacher will also plan for and participate in the evaluation process and perform other duties assigned by the principal.
