The Assistant Principal is directly responsible to the building principal and assists in the administration, supervision, and evaluation of the educational program and supportive services/activities in the school. This role supports the development and implementation of the school's vision, mission, and goals, and assists in monitoring and adjusting the school improvement plan using data. The Assistant Principal plays a key role in behavior management, monitoring instructional programs to ensure academic progress, and ensuring teachers adhere to district standards and curriculum. They also support student access to the core curriculum, differentiated instruction, and a variety of activities that foster leadership, physical, emotional, social, and attitudinal growth. Furthermore, the Assistant Principal ensures students have access to mental, physical, and emotional wellness services. This role involves assisting the principal in evaluating staff, monitoring instruction, providing feedback, and potentially participating in recruiting, hiring, assigning, disciplining, and dismissing staff. A strong focus is placed on supporting a positive culture of learning, collaboration, and high expectations for all students and staff, as well as building partnerships with families and community members. The Assistant Principal must follow federal, state, and district policies, maintain student conduct standards, and manage administrative tasks such as enrollment, attendance, and transportation. They are also responsible for assuming administrative duties in the principal's absence and supporting a safe learning environment.
