About The Position

ACCEL Schools is hiring a K/1st Grade Teacher at Cleveland Primary Sports Academy, a tuition-free, all-boys public charter school in Cleveland, Ohio, serving students in grades K–5. The school aims to provide a safe, supportive learning environment with high academic standards and an athletics-based approach to character development, teamwork, and discipline. The teacher will deliver engaging instruction, support students’ academic and social-emotional development, and contribute to a positive classroom and school culture. The role includes planning and delivering lessons, differentiating instruction, tracking student progress, managing classroom behavior, communicating with families, incorporating technology, and collaborating with colleagues. Teachers use school-approved curricula and research-based practices and participate in a growth-focused coaching environment involving frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring.

Requirements

Active and current Ohio teaching license in the appropriate content area.
Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
Comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment involving frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to properly manage confidential information.
Ability to supervise students of various ages in different school settings.
Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks.
Experience working within an urban environment.

Responsibilities

Prepare and deliver lesson plans, modifying them as needed during the school year.
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.
Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
Use research-based best practices in daily planning and classroom instruction.
Manage student behavior in the classroom.
Create a positive classroom environment for student learning.
Use school-approved curricula that reflect students’ diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.
Implement school-wide culture expectations and norms.
Communicate and meet with families regarding students’ academic and social-emotional growth.
Incorporate technology skills into daily classroom practice to support learning.
Participate in planning and implementing non-instructional activities as needed.
Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervise students in different school settings, including playgrounds and cafeterias.
