About The Position

Newton Country Day School is seeking a passionate, organized, and collaborative JV Volleyball Assistant Coach to support the Junior Varsity Volleyball program during the Fall 2026 season. This is an exciting opportunity for a coach who enjoys mentoring student-athletes, teaching volleyball fundamentals, and contributing to a competitive, inclusive team culture rooted in the values of Sacred Heart education and Falcon Athletics. Working alongside the Head Coach, the Assistant Coach will help develop athletes both on and off the court by fostering confidence, resilience, teamwork, and sportsmanship in an environment that is fierce, formative, and fun.

Requirements

  • Previous volleyball coaching or competitive playing experience preferred.
  • Experience working with high school-aged athletes is a plus.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the Head Coach and athletic department.
  • Passion for teaching the game while fostering character, teamwork, and personal development.
  • Valid driver's license with the willingness and ability to drive school vehicles.
  • Commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all student-athletes.
  • Ability to pass all required background checks and meet school employment requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Coach in planning and leading four practices per week and coaching all JV matches throughout the season.
  • Teach and reinforce volleyball fundamentals, including serving, passing, setting, hitting, blocking, defensive positioning, and team systems.
  • Support the development of a competitive, positive, and inclusive team culture that emphasizes effort, accountability, and sportsmanship.
  • Mentor student-athletes of varying experience and skill levels, encouraging courage, confidence, discipline, and personal growth.
  • Provide individualized instruction and constructive feedback to help athletes improve throughout the season.
  • Supervise student-athletes during practices, matches, and team activities while maintaining a safe and supportive environment.
  • Communicate effectively with student-athletes, families, the Athletics Department, and coaching staff.
  • Safely transport student-athletes by driving school vehicles to practices and competitions, when required.
  • Uphold and model the values of Sacred Heart education and the mission of Falcon Athletics.
  • Embody the Athletics Department's core principles by helping build programs that are fierce, formative, and fun while developing young women of courage and confidence.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
