About The Position

The JV Girls Tennis Head Coach at Central High School is responsible for helping each participating student achieve a level of skill, appreciate the values of discipline, sportsmanship, school spirit, pride, and develop an increased level of self-esteem. This role involves developing and communicating clear goals for the team and individual players, establishing a team that demonstrates good sportsmanship, and creating an environment where athletes can gain self-esteem and develop a positive self-image. The coach will also support student academic expectations, understand district policies, promote the student-athlete code of conduct, and connect athletic experiences with life experiences. Additionally, the coach will foster an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration, model good sportsmanship, and maintain a safe and healthy environment for student athletes, with a flexible time commitment and consistent attendance.

Requirements

Directly responsible for the safety, well-being and work output of students.
Ability to compare, analyze, communicate both orally and in writing, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, compile and negotiate.
Must remain free of any alcohol or drugs throughout his/her employment with the district as outlined in Board Policy #4210.

Nice To Haves

Excellent communication skills with parents and students required
Tennis and/or coaching experience preferred
First aid and CPR knowledge preferred

Responsibilities

Develop and communicate clear and specific goals for the team and individual players
Develop the skills of players specific to tennis
Establish a team that demonstrates good sportsmanship
Maintain open and honest communication with students, parents, other coaches, and Athletic Director
Create an environment in which athletes can gain self-esteem and develop a positive self-image
Demonstrate understanding of leadership best practices specific to the sport and age group
Support student academic expectations, responsibilities, and achievements
Develop the knowledge and understanding of Forest Hills Public Schools policies and procedures as it applies to athletics
Promote and enforce the student-athlete code of conduct
Connect athletic experiences with life experiences
Provide an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration among coaches and players
Model good sportsmanship always
Create and maintain a safe and healthy environment for student athletes
Ability to commit to a flexible time commitment
Consistent and reliable attendance
Perform other duties as assigned
