About The Position

The Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a knowledgeable and capable individual to serve as the Juvenile Justice Supervisor at the assigned youth center. The ideal candidate will be 21 years of age or older and possess experience implementing intervention strategies to juveniles who display a variety of behavior challenges. The incumbent in this position will possess the ability to lead by example in all aspects of the position, as well as the ability to develop and motivate a large team of subordinate staff. Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of four years of high school.
  • Requires two years of experience providing direct care to youth in the form of residential care, coaching, case management or mentoring.
  • Requires successful completion of an additional two years of professional staff experience involving the care of youth in a State of Illinois Juvenile Justice facility, and providing for the safety, security and well-being of youth and staff.
  • Requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.   • Candidates must be over the age of 21.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefers at least two (2) years of experience of interaction with juvenile behavior problems.
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of experience with the treatment and interventions required to develop successful and appropriate juvenile behaviors.
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of experience working with adolescent psychological development, mental health issues effecting juvenile offenders, and/or social development concerns.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as front line supervisor.
  • Inspects facility to ensure the security and safety of youth and staff in his/her assigned area or zone.
  • Prepares and submits reports in support of youth discipline.
  • Plans, coordinates, and conducts pre-service and in-service training.
  • Operates employer issued vehicle to transport youth.
  • Attend staff meetings to discuss problem issues.
  • Attends workshops and in-service training to attain professional development and updates skill and proficiency to coordinate specialized service delivery programs.
  • Coordinates review of facility compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
