The Juvenile Intake and Assessment (JIA) Worker is an on-call position responsible for processing youth at the law enforcement center for various criminal behaviors or youth deemed to be a child in need of care. This role involves completing an intake process by gathering information from the youth, law enforcement officers, and family members, and accurately entering this data into a database. The position also requires coordinating youth placement based on assessed needs and county attorney recommendations. The JIA Worker must be available for 12-hour shifts Monday through Friday and at least one weekend per month, and is paid for the on-call shift regardless of whether they are called in. Youth can be brought in by law enforcement or through scheduled appointments. The JIA Worker must be able to report to the law enforcement office within 30 minutes of receiving a call. This role requires working respectfully with community partners, taking direction, presenting concise information to the county attorney and partners, and accurately entering data. The JIA Worker will be part of a team covering all shifts and works independently under the general supervision of the Harvey/McPherson Counties Community Corrections (HMCCC) Deputy Director, adhering to strict standards defined by legislation, agency policies, and the Kansas Department of Corrections/Juvenile Services.
