About The Position

As a Juvenile Corrections Security Officer in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Access Control Officer at a government location, you will help manage entry points, verify authorized access, monitor activity, and provide professional communication to staff and visitors. You will maintain a visible presence that helps deter incidents while supporting a welcoming environment. Requirements

• A valid driver’s license is required in the state where the job is located.
• Possess at least 6 months of security-related experience.
• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to staff, visitors, youth, and authorized partners by carrying out access-control procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities when appropriate.
• Monitor entrances, exits, visitor processing areas, and access points; verify authorization, maintain required logs, and direct individuals according to facility procedures.
• Help to deter unauthorized entry and prohibited items by screening visitors and coordinating access requests in accordance with established protocols.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner; notify appropriate personnel and document observations and actions taken.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned interior and exterior areas, including the perimeter, while reporting access-control concerns, hazards, and unusual activity.
