As a Juvenile Correctional Security Officer - Entry Authorization in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Access Control Security Officer at a government location, you will help manage entry points, verify credentials, monitor access activity, and support a secure environment for staff and visitors. You will provide professional customer service, communicate clearly, and use technology to document security-related information. This driving position requires a valid driver’s license. Requirements

  • A valid driver’s license is required in the state where the job is located.
  • At least 6 months of security-related experience is required.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Access control and badge experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to clients, visitors, staff, and youth by carrying out access-control procedures, site-specific policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Monitor entry and exit points; verify credentials, authorize access in accordance with established procedures, and maintain visitor and access records.
  • Respond to incidents, unauthorized access attempts, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner; promptly communicate observations to appropriate site contacts and/or emergency responders.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned areas, entry points, and the perimeter to identify and report security-related concerns. Working environments and conditions may vary by location.
  • Assist with maintaining orderly access to government facility areas while treating all individuals with professionalism, respect, and discretion.
