As a Juvenile Correctional Security Officer - Entry Authorization in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. Requirements

  • Must meet DPSS/DHS tuberculosis test and MMR vaccination requirements.
  • At least 6 months of security-related experience is required.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Access control and badge experience is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to visitors, staff, and authorized personnel while carrying out site-specific, security-related procedures and access-control policies at a government juvenile justice facility.
  • Monitor entry and exit points, verify identification and authorization, issue visitor credentials as assigned, and maintain accurate access logs.
  • Control access to restricted areas by operating access-control systems, monitoring doors and gates, and reporting unauthorized access attempts.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established emergency response protocols.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned interior and exterior areas to help identify security-related concerns and report observed conditions.
