About The Position

As a Juvenile Correctional Facility Officer - Entry Access in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Access Control Officer at a government location, you will help manage entry points, screen visitors and belongings, verify credentials, and monitor activity to support a secure environment. You will provide professional customer service, use technology to document and communicate incidents, and may drive as part of assigned duties. Requirements

• A valid driver’s license is required in the state where the job is located.
• Possess at least 6 months of security-related experience.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

• X-ray screening experience is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to staff, visitors, youth residents, and/or contractors while carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities at a government juvenile services location.
• Control access to designated buildings, offices, and restricted areas by verifying credentials, screening visitors, maintaining visitor records, and directing authorized individuals in accordance with site procedures.
• Monitor entry points, alarms, cameras, and/or communications equipment; report unusual activity, access concerns, and policy violations to appropriate personnel.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established protocols and contacting emergency services or site leadership when appropriate.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned buildings, grounds, and perimeter areas to help deter unauthorized access and identify security-related concerns.
