As a Juvenile Correctional Facility Officer - Visitor Access in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. Requirements

  • A valid driver’s license is required in the state where the job is located.
  • Possess at least 6 months of security-related experience.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to visitors, staff, and/or vendors by carrying out access control procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a government location.
  • Monitor entry and exit points, verify identification and/or credentials, and control authorized access to buildings, grounds, and/or restricted areas.
  • Screen visitors, contractors, and/or deliveries, maintain required logs and reports, and communicate access-related information to site personnel as needed.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and/or critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, and report security-related concerns according to site protocols.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the location and perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and observe for unusual conditions.
