Requirements
- Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
- Four years of professional experience in any operation or program within the field of corrections, juvenile justice, criminal justice, law enforcement, recreation, academic or vocational education, health services or education, dietary or food management, construction project management, social work, or a related field.
- A master's degree will substitute for one year of the required experience.
- Additional experience in corrections, juvenile justice, criminal justice, law enforcement, recreation, academic or vocational education, health services or education, dietary or food management, construction project management, social work, or related field will substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.
Responsibilities
- Plans, develops, recommends, and administers a major program area for the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ); and performs other duties as required.
- Plans, develops, recommends, and administers DJJ's Title II Racial and Ethnic Disparities (R/ED) Program using a three-pronged, research-driven, outcomes-based strategy.
- Develops, implements, and enforces policy, process, and procedures to ensure that the department maintains a robust and comprehensive compliance monitoring program.
- Acts as DJJ liaison to other state and federal agencies requiring expertise in the R/ED Program and to resolve programmatic issues white managing compliance and reporting requirements on behalf of DJJ with the Sub-committee for Equity and Justice for All Youth (SEJAY) and Coalition of Juvenile Justice (CJJ).
- Conducts research, compiles data, analyzes findings, and formulates proposals on R/ED Program criminal justice system components to meet state and federal requirements.
- Requests and collects program data, edits and analyzes data to be able to write comprehensive program status reports for executive and managerial superiors.
- Communicates procedural or program changes to executives and management.
- Prepares, reviews, processes, and recommends approval of DJJ grants and other program aspects.
- Responsible for the approval of budgets, invoices, and back up documentation in compliance with grant rules, state and federal laws and regulations, policies, and best practices for assigned grants.
- Communicates with Juvenile Justice Specialist, other staff, state agencies, and community stakeholders and parents on a state-wide basis as needed for overlapping goals, assignments, technical Assistance and consultant or training.
- Statewide travel required.
