About The Position

The Justice Court Administrator provides a variety of administrative support services to the Justice Court, which includes planning, directing, and coordinating the general operation of the office and the work of assigned staff. This role is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing operations to support multiple court programs and services. The administrator hires, trains, supervises, evaluates, supports, directs, and coordinates assigned support staff to ensure that court programs and service goals and objectives are met. Key areas of oversight include internal services such as case-flow management, fiscal administration, technology and electronic records management, space management, facilities, community and media relations, public information, research and advisory services, and interpreter services. The position also serves as an intergovernmental liaison, participates in local and state committees, and develops procedures to implement legislative changes. A significant part of the role involves developing and maintaining complex accounting systems, providing accurate financial forecasts, managing budgets, funds, and grants, researching and completing grant applications, monitoring revenue and expenditures, identifying alternative funding sources, and maintaining the financial integrity of the department's accounting system in accordance with the Administrative Office of the Courts' Minimum Accounting Standards. The administrator also compiles and analyzes data, evaluates program effectiveness, creates reports, and develops administrative procedures and rules for the Judge's approval. Other job-related duties are assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Business, Public Administration, Judicial Administration or closely related field.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressive administrative experience, to include three (3) years in a supervisory capacity.
  • An equivalent combination of directly related work experience and education may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-per-year basis.
  • Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license.
  • Must possess Arizona Court Supervisor and Arizona Court Manager certificates from the leadership training programs at the Arizona Supreme Court.
  • Knowledge of County and Justice Court policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Legal terminology and court procedures.
  • Knowledge of Principles and practices of supervision.
  • Knowledge of AJACS program or other court specific automated case management system.
  • Knowledge of Business English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and composition.
  • Knowledge of Clerical office practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Budgeting, research techniques and report writing.
  • Knowledge of Current Microsoft Office software.
  • Knowledge of Filing and recordkeeping.
  • Skill in Personnel supervision and management.
  • Skill in Communicating effectively verbally and in writing and communicating orally in a face-to-face setting and by telephone with public and employees.

  • Ability to Develop alternative and creative solutions to administrative and management challenges.
  • Ability to Effectively plan, organize, and supervise the work of others and maintain workflow.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes, and directs operations to support multiple court programs and services.

  • Monitors revenue and expenditure for compliance with funding agreements; identifies alternative funding sources; maintains financial integrity of the department's accounting system in accordance with the Administrative Office of the Courts' Minimum Accounting Standards.
  • Compiles and analyzes data; reviews and evaluates effectiveness and efficiency of programs and services; creates reports; develops administrative procedures, and rules for approval of the Judge.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
