About The Position

Southbridge Public Schools is undergoing a significant transformation, particularly in its secondary schools, which are showing rapid improvement in culture, climate, and instruction. This role is for a Junior Varsity Football Coach who will report to the Athletic Director and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the football program, ensuring athlete safety, promoting academics, and building community relationships.

Requirements

  • Prior coaching experience in a college, high school, or professional setting.
  • Accountable for the entire program.
  • Oversee all aspects of the program, including safety and inventory of athletic equipment.
  • Communicate with the Athletic Director concerning any incidents which come up in regards to student athletes or parental concerns.
  • Promote academics before athletics by monitoring academic performance and enforcing eligibility.
  • Allow all student athletes the opportunity to compete in the sport while promoting sportsmanship.
  • Build a positive relationship with the community to promote the sport.
  • Demonstrate all skills, drills and fundamentals of the sport.
  • Manage and take inventory of all equipment.
  • Be present at all weekend activities.
  • Supervise athletes before practices, during/after practices and during activities/events.
  • Attend coaching meetings as assigned.
  • Evaluate the progress of the student athletes.
  • Assist with fundraising along with promoting community support and awareness.
  • Set scrimmages, game schedules, and practice schedules for the program.
  • Perform all other duties that are assigned by the Athletic Director and/or Varsity Coach.
