About The Position
This is a specialised, fully remote freelance/contract consulting opportunity for a Junior Software Engineer supporting advanced AI training and evaluation initiatives. The work applies software development expertise to evaluate AI-generated code, develop challenging programming problems and reference solutions, create test cases, review technical reasoning, and provide structured written feedback. Prior experience with AI training projects is not required. Assignments may cover code correctness and quality, algorithms and data structures, debugging, system design, software architecture, and engineering decisions. Deliverables include technical evaluations, coding challenges, reference implementations, test cases, and written feedback. Requirements
- Professional experience in software engineering or a closely related technical discipline.
- Strong understanding of programming fundamentals and software development principles.
- Practical experience reviewing, debugging, and maintaining software code.
- Solid knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and computational problem-solving.
- Familiarity with software architecture, system design, common design patterns, and engineering best practices.
- Ability to assess code correctness, efficiency, readability, and maintainability.
- Understanding of software testing methodologies and test case development.
- Ability to design coding problems and implement accurate reference solutions.
- Strong analytical reasoning, attention to detail, and logical problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to explain technical decisions and programming solutions clearly, with excellent written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently on technical evaluation and software engineering assignments.
Nice To Haves
- At least 1 year of software engineering experience at a leading technology company.
- Recent software engineering experience, particularly within the past 3 years.
- Experience with production software or real-world development projects.

Responsibilities
- Evaluate AI-generated code for correctness, functionality, readability, maintainability, and alignment with requirements.
- Identify programming errors, inefficient approaches, code quality issues, and weaknesses in technical reasoning.
- Assess algorithms, data structures, implementation decisions, and proposed debugging strategies.
- Design challenging programming problems based on realistic software engineering tasks.
- Develop technically accurate reference solutions and test cases for assessing coding solutions.
- Review AI-generated reasoning about software architecture and system design for correctness, efficiency, and maintainability.
- Explain appropriate design decisions and recommend corrections or improved implementation approaches.
- Provide detailed written feedback and document technical errors, design weaknesses, and recommended corrections.
- Maintain technical accuracy, clarity, consistency, and documentation quality across evaluation deliverables.
