About The Position

24-MAG LLC is recruiting experienced CFD Engineers for a specialised, fully remote independent-contractor consulting opportunity supporting an advanced AI training and engineering evaluation project. Professionals will solve and assess complex computational fluid dynamics problems, review AI-generated engineering responses, and apply practical simulation judgment across meshing, solver configuration, turbulence modelling, boundary-condition specification, convergence analysis, and verification and validation. No prior AI experience is required. The work includes CFD problem solving and simulation review, turbulence and meshing analysis, validation of fluid-flow and heat-transfer results, and evaluation of AI-generated technical responses. Compensation is output-based at $50–$150 per hour, with payment for tasks meeting project specifications; minimum weekly submission requirements apply. Scope, workload, task complexity, and evaluation requirements may vary. Selected professionals should be prepared to begin their first tasks approximately 24–48 hours after completing onboarding. Work must not use confidential or proprietary third-party information.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience conducting and validating CFD simulations.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with emphasis on fluid dynamics or thermofluids, or equivalent practical CFD experience including at least 3 years of relevant professional work.
  • Strong experience with mesh generation, solver setup, turbulence modelling, multiphase or heat-transfer analysis, and post-processing.
  • Deep understanding of the Navier–Stokes equations and core fluid-dynamics principles.
  • Strong familiarity with RANS, LES, DES, meshing strategies, boundary-condition specification, and verification and validation.
  • Experience validating CFD results against analytical calculations, experimental measurements, or trusted reference cases.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Ability to complete work without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to an employer, client, institution, research group, or other third party.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with recognised practices such as ASME V&V 20, AIAA CFD verification and validation guidance, or ITTC procedures.
  • Experience with CFD software such as ANSYS Fluent, STAR-CCM+, OpenFOAM, COMSOL, Converge, or comparable platforms.
  • Experience in aerospace, automotive, energy, marine, HVAC, process, biomedical, or related engineering sectors.
  • A history of technical problem authoring, committee participation, competition leadership, or recognised CFD-community contributions.

Responsibilities

  • Solve and evaluate complex computational fluid dynamics problems, including theoretical fluid-dynamics questions and practical simulation scenarios.
  • Work across mesh generation, turbulence modelling, multiphase flow, heat transfer, solver setup, and post-processing.
  • Assess mesh quality and whether mesh-independence requirements are adequately addressed.
  • Evaluate turbulence-model selection, boundary-condition specifications, solver settings, and convergence behaviour.
  • Identify configuration errors, material assumptions, numerical artefacts, unsupported conclusions, or modelling choices that could lead to inaccurate or physically unrealistic results.
  • Recommend technically sound alternatives when modelling or solver choices are inappropriate.
  • Review AI-generated CFD responses for technical correctness and engineering integrity.
  • Validate fluid-flow, heat-transfer, and multiphysics results using analytical calculations, experimental measurements, or trusted reference data.
  • Apply verification and validation principles and evaluate whether reported convergence is sufficient and physically meaningful.
  • Provide clear written and verbal explanations of CFD reasoning, corrections, and engineering trade-offs.
  • Document structured, reproducible feedback to support improvements in AI reasoning and technical performance.
  • Contribute specialist CFD knowledge to model-evaluation and training workflows and collaborate remotely with technical experts and project participants.
