Junior Software Development Engineer - Frontend, Catalog Team (@Remote, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica)

As a Junior Frontend Software Development Engineer on the Catalog team, you will play a crucial role in developing and deploying multiple features with high operational excellence. You will be responsible for creating and delivering new web experiences for OfferUp using technologies such as NodeJS, React, and React Native. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will design and implement new features while also maintaining code quality in existing applications. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to create solutions and frameworks that enhance the productivity of other team members. This role requires at least 2 years of professional software engineering experience and proficiency in core languages like JavaScript or TypeScript.

• Develop and deploy multiple features with high operational excellence
• Design and write well-architected and thoroughly tested code
• Roll out features by analyzing metrics
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to design and implement new features
• Help maintain code quality in existing applications (mobile and web)
• Create solutions and frameworks to improve team members' productivity
• Help create and deliver new web experiences using NodeJS, React, and React Native
• Demonstrate strong coding skills in front-end focused software development
• Have knowledge of data structures and object-oriented design
• Experience with cross-browser compatibility, client-side security, and browser tuning
• Knowledge in web optimization performance and design patterns
• Possess a BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• Have excellent communication skills in English
• Experience with Agile development (helpful, but not required)
• Experience with AWS Cloud infrastructure (helpful, but not required)
• Experience with web package managers, Bower, bundler system, NodeJS, Python, webpack (helpful, but not required)
• Have a Github repo with your own code that can be viewed (helpful, but not required)

• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Proficient in 1 or more core languages (e.g. Javascript, Typescript)
• Strong coding skills in Front-end focused Software Development (HTML, CSS, Javascript, React, React Native)
• Good knowledge of Data Structures and Object Oriented Design
• Experience with cross browser compatibility, client side security, browser tuning and optimization techniques/tools multi-tier large scale web architecture design patterns e.g. responsive design vs optimized design
• Knowledge in web optimization performance, and design patterns e.g. responsive design vs optimized design
• BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken (fluency in English required)
• Experience with Agile development (helpful, but not required)
• Experience with AWS Cloud infrastructure (helpful, but not required)
• Experience around any of the following: web package managers, Bower, bundler system, NodeJS, Python, webpack (helpful, but not required)
• Github repo with your own code we can view (helpful, but not required)
