About The Position

This role focuses on coordinating substitute tutor placements within Merced County. The Junior Site Liaison will work closely with Site Liaisons and Teaching Fellow site staff to manage daily tutoring needs, maintain assignment schedules, and identify qualified substitute tutors. Key responsibilities include ensuring timely communication with substitutes, maintaining accurate records, and supporting the recruitment, interviewing, and hiring process for new staff. The position also involves payroll support, assisting with timesheet follow-up, punch changes, and personnel action forms. Additionally, the role supports the hiring and placement of tutors for school intersession programs, provides onsite supervisory support, and performs other duties as assigned by the program director.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a four (4) year college degree in business management or administration is highly preferred.
  • Prefer 3 to 5 years of direct related work experience, including work with non-profit organizations in an educational setting.
  • Strong demonstration of experience working with children in the field of youth development and community service.
  • Must possess a California Class C driver’s license in good standing.
  • Possess a genuine desire to see youth aspire in their educational accomplishments and goals.
  • Able to communicate in and understand the English language with knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Must be able to demonstrate exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Able to lead and motivate groups and individuals.
  • Able to think creatively and strategically.
  • Successfully mediate and negotiate with individuals and groups internally and externally.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate substitute tutor placements, understanding daily tutoring needs and maintaining a schedule of assignments.
  • Identify and assign qualified substitute tutors based on subject expertise, grade level proficiency, and specific school requirements.
  • Ensure timely communication with substitutes regarding assignment details, location, and special instructions.
  • Establish effective communication channels with substitute tutors, providing clear instructions and addressing queries.
  • Maintain accurate records of substitute tutor assignments, including feedback from schools and tutors.
  • Review HRIS for job applicants, schedule initial interviews, and support Site Liaisons in hiring decisions and placement of new hires.
  • Assist Site Liaisons with Teaching Fellow timesheet follow-up and approval, punch change requests, and submitting/reviewing employee personal action forms.
  • Collaborate with Site Liaisons to facilitate the hiring and placement of tutors for school intersession programs.
  • Provide onsite supervisory support for school intersession programs to ensure smooth operations and address emergent issues.
  • Foster a positive environment for tutors and students.
  • Maintain accurate records and uphold organizational standards by supporting the management of staffing sheets.
  • Follow direction from the program director, offer opinions and recommendations for program efficiency, attend staff meetings, and perform other duties as assigned.
