About The Position

This role is responsible for coordinating substitute tutor placements, assisting with recruitment, interviewing, and hiring processes, providing payroll support, and aiding in school intersession support. The Junior Site Liaison will work closely with Site Liaisons and Teaching Fellow staff to understand daily tutoring needs, maintain schedules, identify and assign qualified substitute tutors, and ensure timely communication. The position also involves reviewing job applicants, scheduling interviews, supporting hiring decisions, assisting with timesheet follow-up, processing punch changes, submitting personnel action forms, and facilitating the hiring and placement of tutors for intersession programs. The role requires providing onsite supervisory support, fostering a positive environment, and maintaining accurate records. The Junior Site Liaison will also perform other duties as assigned, offer recommendations for program efficiency, and attend staff meetings.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a four (4) year college degree in business management or administration is highly preferred
  • Prefer 3 to 5 years of direct related work experience, including work with non-profit organizations in an educational setting
  • Strong demonstration of experience working with children in the field of youth development and community service
  • Must possess a California Class C driver’s license in good standing
  • Possess a genuine desire to see youth aspire in their educational accomplishments and goals
  • Be able to communicate in and understand the English language with knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar
  • Must be able to demonstrate exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Substitute Placement: Work closely with Site Liaison and Teaching Fellow site staff to understand daily tutoring needs. Maintain a schedule of tutoring assignments, including information on subjects, grade levels, and specific requirements. Identify and assign qualified substitute tutors based on subject expertise, grade level proficiency, and specific school requirements. Ensure timely communication with substitutes regarding assignment details, location, and any special instructions. Establish effective communication channels with substitute tutors, providing clear instructions and addressing any queries. Maintain accurate records of substitute tutor assignments, including feedback from schools and tutors.
  • Recruitment, Interviewing, and Hiring: Regularly review the Human Resource Information System (HRIS) for job applicants assigned to your region. Schedule initial interviews of job applicants for placement consideration at assigned after school program sites. Support Site Liaisons in hiring decisions from qualified job candidates and facilitate the placement of new hires.
  • Payroll Support: Help Site Liaison with Teaching Fellow timesheet follow-up and approval process. Support in the punch change request process. Provide support to Site Liaisons by submitting and/or reviewing employee's personal action forms to make changes on promotion, demotion, and job reassignment.
  • School Intersession Support: Collaborate with Site Liaisons to facilitate the hiring and placement process of tutors for school intersession programs. Provide onsite supervisory support to ensure smooth operations and address any emergent issues, and support in fostering a positive environment for both tutors and students. Maintain accurate records and uphold organizational standards by supporting the management of staffing sheets.
  • Perform Other Duties as Assigned: Follows direction set by the program director. Offer opinions and recommendations of proposed actions and decisions that could enhance program efficiency and operations. Attend staff meetings. Perform other duties as assigned.
