About The Position

PenTeleData, the industry leader in data transport, Internet, Wi-Fi, security and consultative services throughout the Northeast, is seeking a Junior Security Analyst to assist in monitoring, response, testing and auditing of internal security policies and controls. This analyst will be responsible for monitoring and responding to active threats and vulnerabilities to our corporate infrastructure, endpoints and network. They will work with various security monitoring tools including vulnerability assessments and penetration testing as well as handle security monitoring and assessments. They will also be working closely with firewalls and access controls, including VPN and access troubleshooting. Leveraging our security awareness-training platform, this analyst will work to train and track all staff on monthly and quarterly cyber-security awareness campaigns. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Networking Technology or 5 years minimum Networking experience with an ISP or large enterprise network working in an Information Security role.
  • Established residency in Pennsylvania.
  • Understanding key aspects of Information Security, including: Security Controls, Risk Assessment and Management, Security Policy and Procedures, Network Security, Incident Response, Disaster Recovery.
  • General knowledge of configuration and troubleshooting with dynamic routing protocols.
  • Knowledge of how to work with common encryption and cryptography methods.
  • Knowledge of Linux and Virtual Machine systems, as well as Windows and MacOS.
  • Possess a strong drive to excel in your position.
  • Strong Communication Skills – Oral and written.
  • Easily convey complex topics to others for training.
  • Ability to create and maintain clean, well-structured technical documentation using Markdown.
  • Ability to collaborate with engineering teams to update project wikis and documentation via Markdown and Git.
  • Ability to monitor and respond to various security tools, system logs and packet captures; XDR, SIEM and Vulnerability scanners.
  • Ability to manage several ongoing tasks.
  • Ability to be a team player.

Nice To Haves

  • CompTIA Security+, (ISC)2 SSCP, EC-Council CEH, GIAC GSEC or CCNA Industry Certification a plus.
  • Previous work with an ISP or large enterprise network working in an InfoSec role a plus.
  • Familiarity with Palo Alto PAN-OS, Cisco IOS, IOS-XE and IOS-XR.
  • Python, Ansible a plus.

Responsibilities
