About The Position

The Junior Product Design Engineer supports the development of innovative kitchen and cleaning products from concept through commercialization. The role combines creativity, engineering fundamentals, and hands-on problem solving to design products that meet consumer needs and business objectives. Working with Product Management, Design, Sourcing, Quality, and Operations, the engineer contributes to concept generation, CAD development, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing support. This is an early-career opportunity to gain experience across the full product development lifecycle in a consumer products environment. The role incorporates user experience, ergonomics, and color, material, and finish considerations, and supports product validation, documentation, continuous improvement, and cross-functional technical needs. The position is hybrid, with in-office presence required Tuesday through Thursday. Final compensation is based on job-related factors including skills, experience, and qualifications. Employment offer is contingent on successful completion of a background check.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, Industrial Design Engineering, or a related technical field.
0–2 years of professional experience or relevant internship/co-op experience in product design, mechanical engineering, or product development.
Proficiency with CAD software.
Strong concept generation, visualization, and problem-solving skills.
Understanding of fundamental mechanical engineering principles and material properties.
Hands-on experience with prototyping tools and techniques, including 3D printing and model making.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment while managing multiple priorities.
Detail-oriented, with strong organizational and analytical skills.
Ability to work in a hybrid environment, with in-office presence required Tuesday through Thursday.

Nice To Haves

SolidWorks experience preferred.
Familiarity with manufacturing processes, including plastics and injection molding.
Exposure to Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
Familiarity with consumer products, housewares, kitchenware, or cleaning products.
Portfolio demonstrating relevant engineering, CAD, product design, prototype, or academic project work.

Responsibilities

Generate product concepts through sketching, brainstorming, market research, and competitive analysis.
Develop 3D CAD models and assemblies for new products and product improvements using SolidWorks.
Create 2D technical drawings, engineering specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Build, test, and refine physical prototypes using 3D printing, model making, and other prototyping techniques.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to engineer kitchen and cleaning products that meet performance, quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Research and apply material, manufacturing, and assembly concepts, with emphasis on plastics and injection molding.
Incorporate user experience, ergonomics, and color, material, and finish considerations into product designs.
Participate in product reviews, design evaluations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Support Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) to help ensure products are manufacturable and cost-effective.
Track product development projects and production milestones using tools such as Centric, Jira, and Wrike.
Assist with product validation, testing, and documentation activities.
Maintain product design files, technical documentation, and 2D/3D CAD databases.
Provide technical support to internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
Stay current on consumer product trends, emerging technologies, materials, and competitive products.
Attend trade shows, supplier meetings, and product reviews as needed.
