About The Position

This position is for a Junior Network Operations Center Technician Student Worker at Regent University, specifically for students eligible for Federal Work Study. The role involves monitoring network performance and availability, managing Help Desk tickets related to networking systems, and documenting incidents and resolutions. The technician will assist in identifying and resolving network issues, collaborating with senior technicians on complex problems, and participating in routine maintenance and system updates. Accurate record-keeping of network configurations and changes is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of networking concepts and protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools and ticketing systems
  • Familiarity with VMware, and backup operations
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Understanding of network monitoring and backup tools and methodologies
  • Basic knowledge of network configuration and management
  • Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to assist with projects outside of normal business hours
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor network performance and availability using various monitoring tools
  • Monitor Help Desk tickets related to networking systems and services
  • Document incidents and resolutions in the ticketing system for future reference
  • Assist in the identification and resolution of network incidents and issues
  • Collaborate with senior technicians to escalate complex issues
  • Participate in routine maintenance and system updates as required
