About The Position

This entry-level student worker role monitors and supports Regent University’s network infrastructure to help ensure optimal performance and uptime. The technician assists with equipment installation, monitoring critical services, troubleshooting network issues, escalating incidents when necessary, and contributing to a collaborative team focused on service delivery. The position is on campus and is limited to Regent University students eligible for Federal Work Study. The role is not benefits eligible.

Requirements

• Regent University student eligible for Federal Work Study.
• Basic understanding of networking concepts and protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
• Understanding of network monitoring and backup tools and methodologies.
• Basic knowledge of network configuration and management.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools and ticketing systems.
• Familiarity with VMware and backup operations.
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to assist with projects outside normal business hours.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Monitor network performance and availability using monitoring tools.
• Monitor Help Desk tickets related to networking systems and services.
• Document incidents and resolutions in the ticketing system.
• Assist with identifying and resolving network incidents and issues.
• Collaborate with senior technicians to escalate complex issues.
• Participate in routine maintenance and system updates as required.
• Maintain accurate records of network configurations and changes.
• Assist with projects outside normal business hours when needed.
