About The Position

Torch Technologies is seeking a highly motivated Junior Missile Modeling and Simulation Engineer to contribute to the development and analysis of advanced missile defense simulations. The role involves designing, implementing, and validating complex simulations to assess system performance, inform design decisions, and support critical defense initiatives. The engineer will develop and maintain missile and subsystem models, analyze missile performance—particularly guidance, navigation, and control (GNC)—and support constructive and virtual simulations for mission planning, concept development, and operational analysis. The role includes validating models against flight-test data, hardware-in-the-loop results, and other authoritative sources, and documenting and presenting findings to internal and external stakeholders, including government customers. The position is at a customer site with no telework option. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with 0–10% travel. Relocation assistance is not available. The position is not contingent upon a contract award.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • At least 2 years of experience in missile modeling and simulation or a related field.
  • Experience and/or coursework in GNC and/or controls theory.
  • Proficiency in C++, Fortran, and/or MATLAB.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Must possess an active Secret security clearance or be able to obtain one.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Develop, integrate, and maintain high-fidelity missile and subsystem models within simulation environments such as MATLAB/Simulink, C++, and Python.
  • Perform detailed missile-system performance analysis, especially of guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) subsystems.
  • Conduct trade studies and sensitivity analyses to optimize missile designs and identify key performance drivers.
  • Validate simulation models against flight-test data, hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) results, and other authoritative sources.
  • Support development and execution of constructive and virtual simulations for mission planning, concept development, and operational analysis.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers, software developers, subject matter experts, and other interdisciplinary team members.
  • Document simulation methodologies, results, and findings in technical reports and presentations.
  • Present technical findings to internal and external stakeholders, including government customers.
