The Junior Manufacturing Software Engineer develops and maintains software applications and reports used in manufacturing environments. The role focuses on maintaining, upgrading, and redeveloping existing applications that control or interact with customized fixtures and instruments, as well as supporting MES implementation, administration, and operations. The engineer helps integrate paperless workflows, automate data collection, and improve process visualization and quality control. The role is primarily based on the production floor, with additional work in office or laboratory environments, and includes troubleshooting software, workstations, and network-related issues. The engineer collaborates with management and cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, quality, and Corporate IT teams to design custom applications that reduce downtime, support regulatory compliance, and improve productivity. The role uses programming languages and tools including VC++, C#, Java, Python, MySQL, and Tableau, and applies SQL to generate process metrics, reports, and live dashboards. Initially, most work supports existing and legacy manufacturing software, while a smaller portion supports new MES development; the proportion of new-system work is expected to increase as the legacy system is phased out.
