About The Position

Omni Hotels and Resorts is seeking a talented Junior Interior Designer to join their growing in-house design team. This role will support and document designated hotel renovations throughout all design phases. The internal interior design department handles renovations of all hotel areas, including guestrooms, corridors, restaurants, meeting spaces, public spaces, retail, spas, outdoor areas, and pools, as scheduled in the yearly capital plan. The position is part of the reimagination of the brand, with plans to renovate a significant portion of the portfolio in the next three years.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience in interior design or an architectural firm with an emphasis on hospitality.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year accredited Interior Design program.
  • Team player with the ability to switch gears easily and multitask.
  • Highly motivated individual who progressively seeks additional responsibilities.
  • Ability to handle shifting priorities, timelines, and demands in a fast-paced, deadline-driven working environment.
  • Excellent time management and organization skills.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Skilled in visual research and material sourcing.
  • Experience in writing FF&E specifications, FF&E matrices, and quantity take-offs.
  • Travel approximately 5% of time.
  • Must be willing to travel via airplane.
  • Daily working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Proficient in AutoCad, Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam, DesignSpec or Spexx (or equal specs writing software).

Nice To Haves

  • Sketch Up (not required but a plus).
  • NCIDQ certification or Professional Licensure is encouraged (will compensate for licensure fees and CEUs when able to sit for test).

Responsibilities

  • Assist Senior Interior Designers and provide support in the interior design process for renovation projects, delivering creative, thoughtful, and high-quality design in both FF&E and Construction Documents.
  • Collaborate with Interior Designers, Senior Interior Designers, and the project team in space planning, FF&E selections, and presentation content, including material/finish boards, rendered elevations, 3D renderings, imagery, and concept visuals.
  • Assist in generating content for all project interior design documents (i.e., FF&E specifications) and construction documentation under the supervision of a Senior Interior Designer.
  • Present project design materials internally to the Senior Interior Designer for review and participate in presentations to the executive team.
  • Assist with the review of FF&E and GC submittals, specifically FF&E shop drawings, CFAs, millwork shop drawings, architectural finishes, lighting submittals, and plumbing submittals, under the supervision of a Senior Interior Designer.
  • Communicate progress and completion of tasks with their supervisor.
  • Attend site visits as directed by the Senior Interior Designer.
  • Assist with FF&E and GC punch lists, meeting minutes, and field reports.
  • Organize and archive project interior design records upon project closeout.
  • Assist with the material library.
  • Follow interior design and hotel industry trends, introducing new ideas and resources to the team.
  • Participate in company events, take initiative, and contribute to the overall culture and success of Omni Hotels & Resorts.
