About The Position

Burrow Global is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Junior I&E Designer for a long-term assignment with an oil and gas company in downtown Houston. Working under detailed instructions and review, the designer will provide technical knowledge and support the organization’s automation division. This early-career role offers hands-on experience in developing and executing instrument and electrical (I&E) designs in a dynamic engineering environment.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of I&E drafting or design experience using AutoCAD and CadWorx.
• Fast and accurate drafting skills.
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients.
• Ability to learn and apply applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines.
• Attention to detail and ability to work in a time-conscious and efficient manner.

Nice To Haves

• Walkdown experience is desired.
• Accredited two-year degree or global equivalent in a technical field of study.
• Intermediate knowledge of design software, including AutoCAD and CadWorx.
• Familiarity with fieldwork and practical design experience.
• Proficiency in MS Office, including word processing, e-mail, spreadsheets, and presentation programs.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing 2D CAD drawings using AutoCAD and CadWorx, including instrument location plans, isometrics, and sketches.
• Create and update loop drawings and confirm loop-check details.
• Learn to analyze complex problems and recommend solutions based on project objectives and guidelines.
• Develop and review design specifications, including design criteria, under supervision.
• Review drawings and vendor equipment documentation for compliance with project requirements and help resolve discrepancies.
• Assist with developing and checking drawings, including instrument indexes and location plans.
• Follow applicable industry codes and standards, along with department practices and procedures.
• Gain exposure to different parts of the I&E design process and develop an understanding of technical design principles.
