About The Position

You are responsible for supporting the financial analysis, modeling, and research to support the City’s long-term fiscal planning and strategic financial initiatives. You are responsible to maintain financial models, contribute to forecasting, reporting, and performance monitoring to support both City-wide and departmental operations. You also support initiatives such as the Long-Range Financial Plan, Development Charge analytics, infrastructure reviews, and corporate financial performance metrics, helping inform decision-making and ensure alignment with corporate financial strategies and service delivery objectives.

Requirements

  • Four (4) year University Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), corporate finance, or financial analysis.
  • Knowledge of the Corporation, departmental business requirements, policies and organizational structure, and legislative environment of the work location.
  • Knowledge of capital and operating budgets, and related financial processes including purchasing, inventory and cost center accounting.
  • Knowledge of Canadian tax regulations and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, general Internet, Maintenance Management Systems (SAP), electronic communication and computer software applications/data base management specific to the work requirements.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills; advanced Excel proficiency required.
  • Strong understanding of financial concepts including budgeting, forecasting and auditing/financial analysis.
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers.
  • Able to work independently, and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills to plan, initiate, organize and prioritize own work.
  • Able to conduct research/reviews, compile/analyze issues/data, make judgements on the interpretation of issues/data, and formulate recommendations.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, presentation and report writing skills.
  • English oral, reading, writing.

Nice To Haves

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) current with CPA Ontario is desirable.
