About The Position

We are looking for a Junior Financial Management Specialist to join our team in supporting the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs (ASD(HA)). The ASD(HA) is the principal staff advisor to the Secretary of Defense for health and oversees the Military Health System (MHS). The MHS is comprised of the Defense Health Agency (DHA), the medical readiness organizations of the Military Departments, and the Uniformed Services University for the Health Sciences. This position is immediately available, and the start date is set once all on-boarding requirements are met including security clearance application or validation. Interviews to begin within one week after announcement. Announcement will close when positions are filled.

Requirements

  • Applicant MUST be U.S. citizen and able to obtain a Secret-level clearance.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools.
  • Demonstrated skills in critical thinking, communication, working with stakeholders, time management, and teamwork.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to multi-task/manage multiple priorities.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Accounting

Nice To Haves

  • Medical billing experience and insurance experience
  • Call center experience
  • Experience supporting and communicating with DoD personnel and senior leadership
  • Capability of speaking fluent Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting non-DoD beneficiaries with the MHS Modified Payment and Waiver Program.
  • Receiving mailed or electronically submitted debt relief requests, reviewing to ensure appropriate supporting documentation is in place, and processing these packages within a strict timeline.
  • Utilizing pre-determined formulas to determine patient's eligibility for debt relief or waiver.
  • Collaborating with MHS billing offices and insurance providers to resolve billing discrepancies.
  • Coordinating with the U.S. Treasury Department to determine or affect patient debt status and terms.
  • Maintaining detailed records of all patient interactions and account statuses.
